At the border with the Marches, Gubbio clings to the first slope of Mount Ingino, a small mountain of the Apennines. The oldest city of Umbria is a true medieval masterpiece, rich in history and monuments: Piazza Grande, whose construction dates back to the 15th century, also called Piazza della Signoria, il palazzo dei Consoli, il Palazzo del Podestà, la cattedrale dei Santi Mariano e Giacomo, la chiesa St-Francesco and much more.

- Go to the basilica of Saint Ubaldo by the rustic cable car. And, if you have the courage, go down via the foot the path. It’ is a beautiful walk.

CITTA DI CASTELLO (31) On the border of Marche and Tuscany, Citta di Castello will make the happiness of modern art lovers through the Foundation and the ALBERTO BURRI Museum. The Burri collection exhibits 257 paintings distributed in the Palazzo Albizzini (Via Albizzini 1) but especially in the old tobacco dryer (Ex Seccatoi del Tabacco), Via Francesco Pierucci, near the train station. SCHEDULE: June-Sept.: 10am-1pm, 2.30pm-6.30pm (w.-end 10am-6.30pm) - closed on Monday. www.fondazioneburri.org

GUBBIO (30) A la frontière avec les Marches, Gubbio s’accroche à la première pente du mont Ingino, une petite montagne des Apennins. La plus ancienne ville de l’Ombrie est un véritable chefd’œuvre médiéval, riche en histoire et monuments : la Piazza Grande (Grande Place, dont la construction remonte au XVe siècle), aussi appelée Piazza della Signoria (Place de la Seigneurie), le Palais des Consules, le Palais du Podestat, la Cathédrale des Saints Mariano et Giacomo, l’église de Saint-François et tant d’autres...
A FAIRE
- Monter à la basilique de Saint Ubaldo par le téléphérique, sorte de cage suspendue tout à fait sécurisée. Et, si vous en avez le courage, redescendre par le chemin c’est une très belle balade.
- se promener dans le centre historique de la ville et profiter des nombreuses boutiques d’artisanat (poterie, cuir, fer, or, broderie).
- déguster de la truffe blanche
